Driving in Anna Maria Island
- Street-legal LSVs may use roads posted 35 mph or less (Fla. Stat. § 316.2122); most AMI streets qualify, but limits vary by city and road — posted signs control.
- Each island city handles carts differently: Holmes Beach registers golf carts for residents, Bradenton Beach allows carts on roads without exclusion signs, and the City of Anna Maria has no cart ordinance of its own.
- Bridges: the Manatee Avenue bridge is posted above 35 mph, so no cart or LSV may drive it. The Cortez Bridge (SR 684) is posted 35 mph per FDOT — within the LSV limit — but verify signage during the ongoing construction, and note most rental operators prohibit leaving the island.
- No beach or sand driving anywhere on the island.
- Most operators require drivers 21+ with a valid licence — an operator policy, not a statute; an LSV always needs a licensed driver (Fla. Stat. § 316.2122).
