14 operators serve Longboat Key, with 11 street-legal LSV listings. Florida law limits even street-legal LSVs to roads posted 35 mph or less, and Gulf of Mexico Drive — the key's one through road — is posted 40–45 mph. That means carts and LSVs can cross it at intersections but can't drive along it: rentals here are for the 25 mph village streets at the north end, resort grounds, and short neighborhood hops. Operators deliver from both the Sarasota and AMI ends of the key.

Most operators require drivers 21+ with a valid licence — an operator policy, not a statute; an LSV always needs a licensed driver (Fla. Stat. § 316.2122).
