Can I rent one cart and use it on several islands?
Usually not — most operators deliver to and serve a specific island or zone, and standard carts can't legally travel the higher-speed roads between them. Pick the island where you're staying and rent from an operator who serves it; the table below shows exactly who serves where.
Do I need a street-legal LSV?
On Siesta Key and Anna Maria Island, standard carts are fine on the 25 mph streets. To drive in Sarasota proper you need a plated street-legal LSV. On Longboat Key, Gulf of Mexico Drive is posted above Florida's 35 mph LSV limit, so carts and LSVs are limited to the village side streets.
